Day overview

Join us for a full-day loop tour starting and ending in Sandspit or Alliford Bay Ferry Terminal. This isn't your average scenic drive; we'll be venturing along logging roads through Moresby Island, offering a unique perspective on this stunning area.

The route covers areas rich in history, bringing to life stories from World War II, the pioneering days of early forestry operations, and fascinating insights into Haida culture. You'll discover hidden gems and hear narratives that connect you deeply to the land and its people. This immersive experience will offer a unique perspective on the island's past and present.

.

What to Expect:

Moresby Camp:
A peaceful coastal spot at the end of a long gravel road. Great views, picnic potential, and often the first real sense of wilderness on the tour. It’s also the furthest point you can drive—marking the closest road access to Gwaii Haanas.

Mosquito Lake:
A scenic freshwater lake surrounded by dense forest. We often stop here for a break—perfect for photos and a deep breath of rainforest air.

WWII Remnants:
Walk through remains of a World War II military site. These weathered structures offer a glimpse into Haida Gwaii’s role in the Pacific theatre.

Skidegate Lake:
Drive by this expansive inland lake—home to eagles, fish, and great photo opportunities. There are also options for short nature walks, offering a closer look at the forest and lakeside ecosystem.

Copper Bay:
A culturally significant site where Haida families continue the tradition of seasonal sockeye fishing. A special place with deep roots.
